HUMANE MEMBERSHIP |

The guiding membership principle is that HUMANE
should be open to the senior administrator in each university, and that
therefore there should be just one member in each institution.
HUMANE started with the idea of a Round Table association supported by 24 universities. As at the start of 2001 membership was very close to 200 (click on members for an overview of member universities per country), with some countries (for example, the Netherlands and Sweden) recruiting nearly all the potential members. In terms of numbers Italy soon became the second largest, after the UK (where over 50% of universities are members), but more recently Germany and France have shown very rapid growth. Spain, Portugal, and Finland are also notable for their support, but one should note that national units are less important in the functioning of the network than commitment and benefit for the individual.

The only way of joining the list is through the Network Manager. The Secretariat uses humane@esmu.be to send out regular information, notably on seminars, but it is open to any member to raise a query or observation at any time.
