HUMANE Seminars |
Each year HUMANE organises six seminars on set themes. They are held at universities throughout Europe, always on a Friday afternoon and Saturday. Seminars each have either five or six presentations plus discussion on each, with the prime linking factor being the European dimension of higher education. The working language is English, but key vocabulary lists are circulated in advance of meetings together with abstracts and any necessary hand-outs. Discussion sessions are not restricted to English. Summaries of the presentations and discussion are circulated to members after each meeting, and are posted on the Web with a slight but deliberate delay.
discussion, and the usual maximum is 35. One seminar per year is open to heads of specialist services. In 1998, for example, this was the Human Resource meeting (Venice), and in 2000 it was the Student Issues seminar in Rennes. Seminars include a social programme. Examples have included various boat trips on sea or canals, and dinners at restaurants ranging from rural Crete to the House of Commons in London, as well as general sight-seeing. Members are welcome to bring a partner at small extra cost.
The schedule for each year is announced at the end of the previous calendar year, with progressively detailed information to follow.
